Kathleen Marshall - Fine Artist
Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Kathleen Marshall, I was born and raised in Baltimore City, and currently I reside in the beautiful, quaint town of Snow Hill, Maryland. I decided to follow my family to the Eastern Shore, allured by the peace and solitude I found in its splendor. Accompanying my father in the early summer mornings as a commercial crabber, I was given the opportunity to explore the waterways studying the native wildlife and waterfowl in their natural environment. It was during these excursions with my father that instilled in me a true appreciation of the tranquil beauty of our Chesapeake Bay. My creative sprit was kindled by my mother, who always took the time to show me that beauty is everywhere providing you take the time to look. When visiting, she still continues to call my attention to a spectacular sunrise, or the curiosity of a plain brown wren. My daughter, Shannon has been my best and worst critic. Her observations have inspired me to capture the true soul of the subject at hand. My son Toms’ assertive encouragement always takes me back to painting.
My formal education as an artist is diverse yet integrated. Under the guidance of Nancy Conrad and Melvin Miller of the Conrad-Miller Studio in historic Fells Point, I began my career studying the techniques of the Old Masters. Nancy encouraged me to join both the Art Gallery of Fells Point and the Fells point Realist. This proved to be the framework of the journey of a lifetime. I have had the opportunity to study at the Beartooth School of Art located in Montana. Situated in the glorious Beartooth Mountains, the school is owned by Master Wildlife Artist Paco Young and his wife, Toni. It was there that I studied under such great artist such as John Seerly-Lester, Terry Issaacs, Daniel Smith and Paco himself.
It was nice meeting you. I appreciate you taking the time to admire my work. My work has been exhibited in preferred galleries, also selected for exhibition in the Grand Hotel in Washington, DC for the late King Hussein of Jordan. My work can currently be viewed at Benndan Galleries, Towson, MD; Artiquites in Snow Hill, MD; Refined Designs in Salisbury and Cambridge, MD and the Rehoboth Art League Gallery in Delaware.
Completed commissions for the Hilton Hotel, Ocean City, MD. Murals for private homes in St. Michaels, Tilghman, and Kent Island.
